The LASER & IPL Difference
Offering the most outstanding laser hair removal system on the market for all skin types, from light to dark, including tanned patients. Its unique design, longer wavelength, and innovative cooling allow extremely effective, safe and permanent results without the downtime, burning and redness often resulting from certain IPL systems. It is not unusual for our clients to find strong, dark, thick hairs “disappear” instead of just becoming “finer” as has been their experience with certain RF, LHE & IPL systems. We are also able to offer permanent hair reduction for the finer hairs!
What do LASER treatments feel like?
The treatments are generally described as “comfortable” by our clients. The cold handpiece prepares the skin before the pulse of light is delivered and soothes it after , Some patients experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required; however some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated. Use of topical anaesthetic is recommended very sparingly only in the area to be treated.
How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require between 3 - 6 treatments. An estimate of the number of treatments you may require will be discussed at consultation because additional maintenance treatments are often required for optimal long-term benefits depending on multiple factors – heredity, hormones, hair thickness, the area treated and the individual’s hair growth cycle, . Interestingly, not all hairs are actively growing at the same time and actually go through three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Because the hairs that are in the regression and resting phase will enter an active growth phase at different times, additional treatments are necessary for disabling all of the hair follicles in a given area.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately following your treatment with us, the treated area may appear a bit pink or red (depending on your skin tone). We have had perhaps1% of our clients experience some swelling. Upto 7 days after treatment you may experience what seems to be regrowth of hair but most of these hairs have been extruded and are being shed as a result of your treatment; so they are not regrowing. Between treatments it is not necessary to you wax or pluck your hair, but it is preferable to shave it. These hairs will eventually be reduced with the Laser.
What are the possible side effects?
Although patients experience few side effects, the most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. These effects typically last for several hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur. Please follow the instructions on your Post-Laser Treatment Guidelines if this does occur.
How does the Laser compare with Electrolysis?
Compared to Laser, electrolysis is a tedious, invasive, and painful process that involves inserting a probe into each individual hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to one hair follicle at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. By delivering light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at a time, the Laser effectively treats an area in just seconds that would take over an hour with electrolysis. We have been doing electrolysis for more than 20 years and have actually demonstrated the efficacy of Laser vs. electrolysis to our clients.
